OWINGS MILLS, Md. (May 30, 2017)—The Commonwealth Institute (TCI) of South Florida recognized Board of Certification/Accreditation (BOC) President and CEO Claudia Zacharias, MBA, CAE as a top 50 women-led business leader at its 12th annual Top Women-Led Businesses Luncheon on May 18. TCI South Florida, a non-profit organization devoted to advancing businesswomen in leadership positions, partnered with Kaufman Rossin, one of the largest CPA and advisory firms in the U.S., to develop the list, surveying more than 10,000 women-led businesses.

In the nearly eight years Zacharias has been with BOC, the organization has experienced tremendous success. Under her leadership, BOC is the only one of eight CMS-deemed accrediting organizations to achieve net growth in the number of facilities accredited in recent years. Revenue has increased nearly 50 percent, due in part to the addition of two new credentialing programs, the Certified Durable Medical Equipment Specialist (CDME) and Retail Pharmacy Accreditation. Zacharias’ innovative launch of a full-time business development team, combined with a focus on technology and partnership-building, also contributed to the dramatic fiscal results for the company that helped secure Zacharias a place on the top 50 list.

In addition to BOC’s financial success, during her tenure Zacharias spearheaded a revamp of BOC’s customer service experience that garnered BOC seven prestigious Stevie Awards for business development, customer service and innovation.

“I am honored to have been recognized among this group of amazing businesswomen who are at the top of their respective fields,” says Zacharias. “My own passion and commitment is fueled by the dedication of BOC’s staff and board of directors, and I am fortunate to lead an organization of experienced team members who work to fulfill our mission every day.”
