NASHVILLE, Tenn. (January 28, 2021)—National Seating & Mobility (NSM), North America’s largest and most trusted provider of comprehensive mobility solutions, has developed a new NSM University course designed to educate nurse case managers about complex rehab technology and mobility products. The live course is the first from NSM to receive the Pre-Approved Continuing Education (PACE) seal of approval by the Commission for Case Manager Certification to provide continuing education credits to Certified Case Managers (CCMs).

“Broadening the scope of understanding about CRT and mobility solutions is key as our industry continues to strengthen its position in the overall health care spectrum,” said Bill Mixon, NSM CEO. “As the industry leader, we are committed to investing in educational programs in support of this objective.”

NSM’s one-hour “Introduction to Complex Rehab Technology & Accessibility Products for Persons with Disabilities” course outlines the differences between standard durable medical equipment (DME) and complex rehab technology (CRT) equipment and introduces various types of wheelchairs, seating systems and accessories. The session also includes a review of home and vehicle accessibility products, services and modifications supporting independence for those with mobility challenges. Attendees will gain an overall understanding of the holistic approach to complex care for individuals with disabilities. The course is the first continuing education opportunity offered by NSM, with additional courses to follow.

“Offering approved continuing education in-services and courses are part of NSM’s commitment to our payer partners, clinicians and case managers,” said Cindi Petito, NSM operations manager of access and workers’ compensation. “Continuing education is vital to advancing knowledge and skills in an ever-changing healthcare industry and enhancing new learning for the next generation of professionals. NSM is proud to join CCM as a ‘Partner in Excellence’ to help shape the future of case management.”

The first course presentations are scheduled Jan. 27, 2021, and Feb. 11, 2021, with additional dates to be provided throughout 2021. While the course is PACE-approved for certified case managers, it is also available to hospitals and other clinical organizations.
