CARY, N.C. (January 6, 2021)—The Accreditation Commission for Health Care’s (ACHC) learning management system, HealthTrainU, was recently awarded a five-year reaccreditation from the International Accreditors for Continuing Education and Training (IACET). The customizable HealthTrainU platform has again met the ANSI/IACET Standard, which is internationally recognized as the standard for excellence and integrity for Continuing Education and Training (CE/T) practices.

To earn this accreditation, organizations must undergo a rigorous review process conducted by the IACET Commission, which addresses the design, development, administration and evaluation of programs. The process includes evaluation of course development through the granting of continuing education units (CEUs). The IACET requires organizations to reapply for accreditation every five years to ensure their programs continue to meet quality CE/T practices and remain consistent with the most up-to-date version of the ANSI/IACET 2018-1 Standard for Continuing Education and Training.

“Offering over 300 courses in more than 20 content libraries, HealthTrainU is designed to provide organizations small and large with a one-stop, virtual resource for education and compliance,” said Greg Stowell, associate director for education and training at ACHCU, the educational resources arm of ACHC. “With its customizable features and ability to upload proprietary content, this flexible management tool makes it easy for organizations to assign, administer and track their employees’ training and education progress.”

What does the ANSI/IACET Standard measure?

  • During the accreditation review process, an organization’s CE/T program is measured by the ANSI/IACET Standard across nine internationally recognized categories:
  • Organization, Responsibility and Control
  • Learning Environment and Support Systems
  • Planning and Instructional Personnel
  • Needs Analysis
  • Learning Outcomes
  • Content and Instructional Requirements
  • Assessment of Learning Outcomes
  • Awarding the IACET CEU and Maintaining Learner Records
  • Evaluation of Learning Events

“Our team has worked hard to build and grow this multi-faceted online program into the resource it is today,” said Stowell. “As an accrediting organization ourselves, we value this third-party endorsement of our tool, which is constantly being expanded to offer the most up-to-date, relevant content to health care providers across a diverse range of specialties, from home health and hospice to pharmacy and renal dialysis.

Health care providers can use HealthTrainU for organizational training and to meet a variety of accreditation and licensing requirements, as well as for state and federal regulatory requirements. The expansive portfolio of courses offered includes everything from Infection Control & Air/Bloodborne Pathogens to Ethics and the Law for Health Care Professionals.

HealthTrainU is among nearly 500 platforms around the globe that have matriculated through a rigorous peer-reviewed process by experts in continuing education. To learn more about the IACET accreditation process, visit iacet.org.
